Discovering America on the Road

As-salaamualaykum all !

I’m new on the meSmarty community and just wanted to wave a friendly salaam.

Being new, I’m a bit lost as well. I can’t seem to figure out how to submit a post that shows up on the landing page. Love to get some help on that !

Secondly, I thought I’d share an adventure that I went on in December 2008-January 2009. Basically, I was completing my Master’s degree in the States during that time and I, along with a few of my friends decided to do something special…something that would count as an experience of a lifetime – so, we decided on doing a 7000+ mile road trip around America and finally see first-hand what the “hype” about the US is all about. We had nearly a month off because of the generous winter break our universities offered and after some rigorous and intense planning, we set out to discover America.

We started the trip with three people in the group and mid-way a fourth individual joined us. Brief intro:

1. Aatir – thats me. LUMS alum, former Techxian, was studying at U Penn (CS).
2. Abdul Basit – my apartment mate. GIK alum, PTC , was studying at U Penn as well (Electrical).
3. Ahmed Loona – Abdul Basit’s friend. GIK alum, Syracuse grad.
4. Adeel Rizvi – joined us in Houston. GIK alum, Univ of Central Florida grad.
